Clinic and Dental Casework Detailing A small space with a great deal in it.
A treatment room is a small space with a great deal in it. Equipment, services, storage and a clinician who has to reach everything without moving. There is very little tolerance available, and most of it has already been spent.
What this sector demands
- Equipment-led layout.
- The chair, the delivery unit, the imaging equipment and the sterilisation line all have fixed positions and service requirements, and the casework fits around them rather than the reverse.
- Services in a small envelope.
- Water, waste, suction, air and power all arrive in the same joinery run. Chases, penetrations and access panels have to be drawn, because there is nowhere to hide a mistake.
- Cleanable junctions.
- The same requirement as hospital work, in rooms where surfaces are wiped down between every patient.
- Sequenced small projects.
- Practices fit out room by room, frequently while continuing to operate. Access, noise and phasing are constraints on drawings as much as on installation.
Where packages fail here
- Equipment confirmed after the casework was drawn.
- The most common failure by a distance in this sector, because equipment selection frequently lags the fit-out design.
- Service runs that meet in the same void.
- Waste and suction routed on paper without checking that both fit, along with the fixings holding the cabinet up.
- Reach and clearance compromised by a late change.
- A cabinet moved fifty millimetres to solve a service clash, putting a working surface out of comfortable reach.
- Junctions left nominal.
- Cleanable conditions specified and then drawn as ordinary butts.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Our equipment has not been selected yet. Can you still start?
Yes, with the assumption stated on the drawing so it gets confirmed rather than built. Unconfirmed equipment is the leading source of late change in clinical rooms, and flagging it early is most of the mitigation.
We do many small projects rather than a few large ones. Does that work?
It works well, because the second room type starts closer to finished than the first. Standard details and conventions are captured once and reused, which is exactly where repeat small projects gain.
Do you coordinate services as well as casework?
Provision within the casework is detailed: chases, penetrations, access and clearance. Services design and certification sit with the qualified party on the project.
Is this different from hospital casework?
Same cleanability thinking, different scale and equipment density. A treatment room has less spare space than almost any other clinical environment.
